I'd be lying if I said my collection of nail polish was limited to the colors I list in this post. My bin of nail polish is ridiculously overflowing and I just don't use them all. For some reason, when I was younger, I felt it was my mission in life to collect every single color and shade imaginable. Nowadays, I have a better understanding of what colors work for me and my style. If I could go back in time I would tell myself to STOP buying blue nail polish--especially mint and baby blue hues. It's just not a color that does much for me. Also, something else I've noticed is I don't find myself switching up my colors too much seasonally. I just tend to wear some colors more often then others. During the spring/summer months I tend to wear colors on the lighter end of the spectrum and in the winter/fall I edge more towards darker hues. Here are some of the my absolute favorite colors and some of my favorites brands that I wear all the time:
- White
- This is my favorite color to wear in summer. It's clean and timeless. I have three different options in my collection. The OPI polish is one I've been wearing very regularly over the past few weeks--its more of an oatmeal white instead of a stark white-- which makes it more wearable (you don't have to worry about getting it dirty). The Essence gel polish is my budget friendly option at $1 a bottle. How ridiculously amazing is that?! It takes me back to the days of BonBons nail polish. Except, this brand manages to give a punch of color in one or two coats. The deborah lippman polish is much more similar to Essie polishes, it has a more sheer formula with a pearly finish. It definitely takes time to build up but is beautiful none-the-less.

- This color was one I received in an Ipsy bag. As you can tell, I've never had the urge to purchase gray polishes and I still don't. This one medium gray color is all I need to get through the fall/winter seasons. I couldn't feel more content. It adds some nice variation to months where you commonly catch me in dark polish after dark polish.
- Mauve
- This color seems to peak in more and more during the spring/summer months for me. It adds just a touch of femininity. Ever since I was little I had this obsession with the color purple. I've found that this particular hue allows me to feel like that little girl again while still looking classic and mature. The Smith & Cult is a bit more of a cool toned grey purple and the Barry M is more of a pinky purple. I love both equally <3.
- Olive
- I could not love a color more than this. I didn't start wearing this on my nails until the last two or so years (when I purchased the OPI pictured below) and I became obsessed. I'm not sure how I went through any fall or winter without it. Last fall, I switched off between these two colors for weeks on end. It never got old. I can say that in the next few weeks I fully look forward to cracking these out again. I 100% recommend that you go out and purchase this OPI color (Suzi-First Lady of Nails) from their Washington D.C. Collection --I know I will have to do that this upcoming season as well.
- Red
- I get this feeling of confidence and power when I wear red whether its one my nails or lips. All of the reds in my nail collection are have a blue undertone making them really flattering on many different complexions. I cant get enough of them and AGAIN I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite. They are all absolutely stunning.
- Black
- Again, this is one of those colors where I just don't need more than one. When in doubt paint your nails black, at least that's the rule I follow. It's chic, sophisticated, and timeless.
